Player Story 4
Occasional risks
NJ is a young, straight identifying man. He has been in a committed relationship with his female partner for four years. They met when they were still in school and have been in a relationship for many years now. Although NJ admits to having had periods where he engaged with multiple sexual partners, he informs us that he’s now committed to stability and exclusivity with his partner.
In the past, NJ briefly explored a relationship with a male partner he met at a club. Although the relationship was short-lived, he reflects that he does not regret the experience. His family remains unaware of his past relationships with men, though he occasionally hears suggestive jokes that hint at their suspicions. NJ is generally unconcerned by their speculations.
NJ's support network includes his family and his coach, providing a solid foundation for his well-being. His coach is one of the only people he has spoken to openly about his same-sex relationships. He receives PrEP medication from Aurum and also visits a public clinic for HIV and STI testing. Currently, NJ is using event-driven PrEP, a strategy he finds effective and has no plans to discontinue. His coach helps him plan for how he will protect himself during periods of increased risk.
